Greg is the principal Certified Public Accountant within the firm and is licensed in the states of Arizona and South Carolina. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1975 and began his Public Accounting career with Arizona’s largest accounting firm as an auditor and tax preparer. It is this experience that led to Greg’s conscious decision to refuse audit work because audits require too much independence. Greg’s passion, as well as the passion of the firm as a whole, is to more closely integrate with our client friends.
After four years in Public Accounting, Greg decided to join the corporate world by becoming the controller and treasurer of a large commercial contracting company. Several years later, a new job position evolved into regional Chief Financial Officer for a publicly held national developer and home builder. During this period, Greg became a real estate broker and also assumed the additional responsibilities of commercial property management, owner association management, human resources, and corporate ethics officer.
In 1995, Greg decided to return to Public Accounting. In 2001, he purchased a South Carolina accounting firm that became Greg Bennett CPA, PA. Today, his focuses include non-profit, retail, wholesale, food and beverage, and property management entities.
2005-2007 proved to be highly memorable and interesting years for Greg as he was involved in the pursuit of establishing an NFL franchise in southern Texas. Greg served as the CFO and Controller, providing financial performance and capital projections to the NFL, proprietor, and the communities and local governments of southern Texas and northern Mexico. The goal never came to fruition, however, due to the unfortunate demise of the proprietor and visionary of the project.
During 2010, Greg wrote and published a book intended to help entrepreneurs achieve their goals of self-employment. You may find out more by clicking on “Greg’s Book” in the navigation menu on the left side of the page.
Greg’s passions include business and the outdoors (fishing, hiking, etc.). Business is what lights up his face and allows him to carry on conversations. Unlike Cheryl, he hates running.

Cheryl is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of South Carolina. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting as well as her Masters in Business Administration from the New York Institute of Technology.
Cheryl started her accounting career as an employee at a local CPA firm where she was introduced to income tax compliance and return preparation. In 2003, she joined Greg Bennett CPA as a staff accountant and preparer of individual tax returns.
With ten years of tax and accounting experience, Cheryl provides services to a wide range of individuals and businesses. Cheryl is our go-to person for individual income tax compliance, research, and return preparation. She also has experience in full accounting and financial statement preparation for property management, property owners’ association, and hospitality related entities.
For a reason we are unable to understand, she has a passion for running and shortly after becoming Certified, Cheryl successfully ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C. In the minds of everyone else in the firm, the only purpose for running is to escape danger but Cheryl respectfully disagrees.

Gregory joined our firm in 2005 and is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Upon completion, he will obtain his Masters in Accounting/Finance and also plans on becoming a Certified Public Accountant.
Gregory avoids income tax work and instead chooses to focus on accounting (primarily from a managerial perspective) and integrative management for wholesale/distribution businesses, including maintaining inventory and implementing controls and safeguards. He is our go-to person for inventory related activities and sales tax compliance. Other industries he serves include retail and property owners’ associations.
Outside of accounting, Gregory offers clients certain IT services which has proven to be a highly valuable and much appreciated offering to our client friends.
Gregory’s passions include water-based recreation, travel, technology, and photography. He is also learning to golf, but to date is only known for hitting golf balls backwards. Like Greg, he hates running and cannot comprehend why anyone would willingly run. In his free time, he is often found reading oh-so-exciting books on economics, business law, information technology, global trade, and China. He has an unexplainable fascination with China despite not having any roots in the country.
